How are risks calculated?

Risk is calculated by multiplying severity and likelihood to give a risk rating from 1 to 25. For example something likely to happen (4) and serious (4) gives a risk rating of 16.

Risk before and after controls have been implemented

The Stepladders risk assessment below shows the risk before controls  of personnel falling off stepladders as 16.  This is the risk rating given if controls are not followed.  If controls are adhered to the risk after controls is reduced to 8.

The controls and planned methods are listed for each risk assessment. These can be modified as required.  If staff adhere to the controls and planned methods to reduce risk, it results in a revised (reduced) risk rating.

 Each risk assessment also includes:

• detailed header information on each risk assessment containing assessor name and signature

• person(s) responsible and person(s) at risk

The software builds a detailed project information sheet containing:
